After the incredible success of the 22nd Annual Legal Wales Conference and Dinner, hosted for the first time in West Wales – with a record-breaking attendance of over 150 delegates from across the Welsh legal profession, this year’s event is set to be even bigger, with our keynote speakers now announced.
From legal professionals in private practice, in-house and the bar in Wales, VIPs, members of the judiciary and representatives from the Welsh and UK governments, academics, students and those who support the legal sector, this unmissable one-day conference and evening dinner is the highlight of the Welsh legal event calendar.
The host – the Legal Wales Foundation – is proud to report another impressive speaker line-up – a unique mix of keynotes and breakout panel speakers and presenters.
This year’s Conference celebrates several significant anniversaries.
Our hosts, Bangor University celebrate twenty years of teaching law. Enlli Thomas, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Head of College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University, who will join us at the Conference and Dinner, said:
“Hosting the Legal Wales Conference at Bangor University is an honour — a moment to celebrate the strength of Welsh legal tradition and to inspire the next generation of legal minds, as well as current lawyers.
“We are especially proud to host the event as we are celebrating 20 years of law at Bangor this year. Our law department stands as a testament to the power of education, justice, and dedication. We are proud to celebrate our achievements at the Legal Wales Conference, a reflection of our growing influence on legal practices in North Wales, and Wales.”
The Law Society of England and Wales celebrates it’s 200th anniversary this year. Mark Evans, the current Vice-President and who represents North Wales and Cheshire on the Council of the Law Society will become the 181st President this October and will be a keynote speaker to celebrate this anniversary.
There will also be sessions celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Law Commission of Wales and England, with the Chair of the Commission Sir Peter Fraser, and the 10th anniversary of Tribiwnlys y Gymraeg (Welsh Language Tribunal) with the President, Betsan Criddle KC.
The Legal Wales Conference provides a platform for significant contributions to the continuing dialogue on constitutional and legal developments in Wales, and the future shape of the profession. The Conference also includes a presentation of the Sir Samuel Evans Prize 2025 for the best undergraduate result at a Welsh Law School.
